This morning right before 9 AM, I went outside and saw 6 Monarchs, 2 Painted Ladies and a Tiger Swallowtail all nectaring in my garden! That's a lot for around here! Then just a little while later I saw a... 7 Aug 05 Butterflies and eggs! Lots of butterflies around this year. Not sure if it is because the weather is hot and dry or more over time are coming to my garden. Friday (8/5) at one time there was a Pipevine Swallowtail, a Monarch, a... 3 Aug 05 The Tigers are invading! Lots of Tiger Swallowtails lately! And lots of catching up to do! Sat, 7/30, at the Butterfly House I saw 2 Spicebush Swallowtails at the same time. Then later a Monarch and also a Pearl Crescent (or something that looked... 17 Jul 05 I found fritillary eggs! A fritillary was flying around the yard today and laid a bunch of eggs all over the violets we have growing! It was my husband who first saw it and told me he saw a butterfly that didn't look like...... 1 Jul 05 American Ladies everywhere! Well, not everywhere exactly. But today I saw two different American Lady butterflies around my garden! One, the bigger of the two, I've seen off and on over the past 3 days. The other is smaller and not as brightly... 20 Jun 05 Zebras and Spicebushes! Sat., the 18th I found 3 Spicebush Swallowtail caterpillars on my spicebushes, actually 4, but something had attacked one and it was dying. Then the next morning, sun the 19th, I found a Spicebush Swallowtail egg too! First I've ever... 31 May 05 Second set of Monarch eggs! Yesterday a Monarch was hanging around, nectaring on purple Milkweed (another plant I need a page for!) and laying eggs everywhere. That's the second set this year. Which is really good for me, I don't usually even see any Monarch... 13 May 05 weather slowly getting better The weather has been getting better here. Last Sunday, 5/8 I saw a Red Admiral resting near by false nettle patch. I was out of town a lot this week though. I did see a Tiger Swallowtail fly past today,... 6 May 05 Is summer here for real yet? It has been rainy and cool and cloudy the past couple of weeks, so no butterflies. But, it now has started warming up again. So hopefully more butterflies will be around soon. I did see a Tiger Swallowtail flying around... 17 Apr 05 First Monarch 2005 Sunday April 17, I saw a Monarch flying around and laying eggs. This is the earliest I've even seen one in my garden! Unfortunately the milkweed plants have not grow very much yet, they are only barely coming up out... 16 Apr 05 First Black Swallowtail 2005 On Saturday I opened up the back door and saw a dark colored butterfly that I thought may have been a swallowtail.
