Girl Gone Gardening

  What is it? #2

Another Clue.... Good Luck!...

  Summer slowly winding down?

74*F, feels like 78*F, 54% humidity, calm wind, partly cloudy It is getting to that time of year where the Indiana sky looks so blue and BIG. I don't know what it is this time of year but the sky just seems like it goes on forever, more so then any other time of year...

Hot Peppers, muffins, and more organizing

73*F, feels like 74*F, 75% humidity, ENE 7 mph wind, mostly cloudy, Coastal Hazard I harvest my first hot peppers today, there are more out there that have to get ripe yet of course but I picked a few as I wanted to try my hand at something I read about in the latest issue of Mother Earth News...

  Homemade seed packets

68*F, 88% humidity, NW 6 mph wind, mostly cloudy, Coastal Hazard Yesterday I got another front garden bed weeded and trimmed up a bit. Cutting off the old day lily flower stalks looks a lot better. The weather did not hold up for much more time though and we had some heavy showers, thunder, hail,  and I watched lightning hit the pole and we lost power and Internet for a little bit...

  Lost in the Hardware Store

75*F, feels like 77*F, 63% humidity, SSE 2 mph wind, mostly cloudy OK, I've thought about it and for the time being I am NOT going to buy that big ol' expensive book. I mean, this stuff can't possibly be rocket science...

  Mobile Home Repair

75*F, feels like 78*F, 57% humidity, calm wind, partly cloudy So I've got these ideas in my head, which is usually not a good thing as ideas usually end up costing time and money and a lot of frustration...

My new favorite way of eating tomatoes.

78*F, feels like 79*F, 56% humidity, WSW 1 mph wind, sunny There can't possibly be anything better then slow oven roasted tomatoes from the garden.... And today's harvest: How do you like my first little pole bean? It's sure pretty...

  The Layoff.

74*F, feels like 77*F, 53% humidity, ENE 1 mph wind, scattered clouds Well everyone can stop holding their breath and crossing things now. There was a big layoff where Mr. Hyper works. Lots of people lost their jobs...

73*F, feels like 75*F, 68% humidity, W 5 mph wind, scattered clouds, Coastal Hazard Thinking positive, hoping that the rumors at Mr. Hyper's work place are just that, wild rumors. Mr. hyper says it's really weird, the owner isn't telling the plant manager anything either and they've eliminated the whole second shift for Friday...

  URGENT!!! Send possitive vibes please!!!

Send positive vibes! Dh called me from work, says he thinks the shop is closing down. Weird stuff going on like suddenly the owner is scrapping all the copper and stuff, they use that copper in their products! and they got their pay checks TODAY instead of FRIDAY and the owner won't explain anything...

  More fog.

74*F, feels like 77*F, 60% humidity, NNE 2 mph wind, scattered clouds, Coastal Hazard There is an old weather wise tale that says for every fog in August there will be a snow storm. Hmmm. Everyday of August 2011 we've had a morning fog...

  Buzzed.

72*F,  88% humidity, ENE 2 mph wind, thunderstorm rain I was another foggy humid and warm morning. Quite damp as if it had rained again over night. This time of year we get a lot of moister from the acres and acres of corn and soy that is grown...

  Jack's funny face

88*F, feels like 96*F, 64% humidity, SW 4 mph wind, scattered clouds Jack and I were hanging out in the foggy, humid morning just weeding one of the front flower beds that has been taken over by evil crab grass...

83*F, feels like 90*F, 78% humidity, calm wind, overcast Today was elderberry day! I picked quite a few, but there are a lot left that still need to ripen. I picked some rose hips too that were ready...

  At last...I can enjoy outside!

69*F,  95% humidity, calm wind, partly cloudy At last I can really enjoy the garden. I don't mean about the heat. I don't mind heat at all really so long as I can lounge and drink cold stuff and watch stuff grow and once in a while throw myself in cold water or hose myself down...

Seed Deals and a guessing game!

75*F, feels like 76*F, 80% humidity, ENE 1 mph wind, scattered clouds Look at these seed packets I got for 24 cents a piece. I got them at Walgreen's the other day when I was buying flea shampoo for poor Jack...

  Chickie Update!

67*F, 95% humidity, calm wind, clear skies It's scary how much it felt like autumn yesterday and even so early this morning as it is. Humid but coolish in comparison to how it's been for a while. It saddens me a bit...

My little harvest for the morning.

77*F, feels like 78*F, 92% humidity, NNW 1 mph wind, overcast, Coastal Hazard Statement I had to get out and harvest this morning nice and early as I go to work early again today. So here are the results of my meager little harvest this morning...

  Excuse me...

88*F, feels like 101*F, 74% humidity, W 4 mph wind,  scattered clouds, Air Quality Alert Excuse me, but didn't I buy you a nice tall bean tower thingy to climb on. Didn't I spend far too much money on something that would look nice and neat and not blow over in the first wind for you and you just don't appreciate it...

First of the Month View, August 2011

85*F, feels like 97*F, 79% humidity, NW 4 mph wind, partly cloudy, Air Quality Alert Here are the first of the month views. It's been so hot this month that not a lot except for picking veggies and fruits has been done...

  Blogging from work

92*F, feels like 103*F, 57% humidity, Variable 5 mph wind, partly cloudy, Air Quality Alert Its funny, sometimes I only have time to blog while I'm at work. Since it's Sunday and quite slow here I have time to do so...

  Been keeping busy!

72*F, 95% humidity, calm wind, partly cloudy I've been keeping busy these days between work and between trying to keep ahead of the crazy weeds in the garden with all the rain we've been dumped with. Sorry Texas, I guess we up north don't like to share very much though we do have plenty of water up here...

Is there anything more pretty then a simple calendula? I don't think so!

81*F, feels like 85*F, 72% humidity, calm wind, scattered clouds Of all the lovely flowers out there, calendulas are one of my top favorites! They are just so sun-shiny, don't you think? I am just loving these "Radar" calendualas which I grew from seed I had ordered from pinetree garden seeds...
